Final reflection

Reflection on project

I can’t believe how fast time passes by. It feels like if yesterday I started working on my project. This will be my final reflection of the overall experience of the project.

I think during this project I had my ups and downs, there were many things I had to figure out and learn how to incorporate them into my film. For instance, at the beginning in the blogs were I had to research about different genres and their conventions was a guide on the development because I had in mind how to illustrate them on the film. However, I was stressed on the amount of blogs I had to write every week. Something that personally I think is beneficial about this project, is that I learned how to balance my regular life with this project, such as exercise, spending time with family and friends, and also other school work.

Moreover, with the concept of the recording I think it was one of the easiest steps of this development, because I got to spend time with my friends, and see how much they enjoyed being apart of the opening. On the other hand, the challenge was editing, as I said in previous blogs, I couldn’t upload audio files into ClipChamp using my iPad, so I had to restart and edit through another app.

Overall, I enjoyed this project, I was almost convinced I wanted to be a producer because I felt important on how I wanted everything to work out, but I didn’t get fully convinced because of the hard work. This project made me realize how important is to express yourself with the blogs, how to be creative with your opening and logo, and more importantly how to manage your time wisely by showing quality and hard work in the project!

Editing!

Editing the CCRs!

Now that I have completed the recordings for both my CCRs. It is time to edit them and make them more professional! I want the reflection to be engaging so that whoever is watching the video is interested on how I got to the final result.

The app that I used for the edition for both videos, was iMovie. I was able to add the video of me talking in a corner throughout the presentation, which was useful because, instead of doing a voice over, I incorporated a video of me talking with the information of the presentation. For both CCRs I used short scenes of my movie, to be easier for others to understand what I'm trying to say, and also I added music in the background to make it more appealing, rather than just me talking throughout the video.

Filming!

Filming of the CCR’s

Hi readers!! Welcome to the final week of this journey! I’m proud to announce that I finished the filming for both of my CCR’s. I had a hard time memorizing what I had to say, but I think I did a good job in the overall videos. For the first one, my mom helped by saying the questions and being the “interviewer” in the video. For the second one, I used Canva for the presentation, I tried to make it creative so that it engages the audience with the information that I’m sharing!

The only thing left is to edit the videos and make them entertaining, which I will be showing in the next blog, so stay tuned!!

Ideasss!!!!!!!

Ideas for the CCR

After I explained what I will be discussing in each question in the previous blogs. This blog I will share my ideas on how I will be creating the two different CCRs. As I have said before, the CCR is reflection on my planning, production and final product. The videos have to be creative, which is a great opportunity to show my personality by explaining the developing during this busy and hard working 7 weeks.

For the first CCR, I will be answering in order (question number 1, and 2). I'm planning on doing an interview. I would like to film this in my house, because I think that my house is what represents me, I love being at my house, and comparing it with the correlation on the film as the opening was filmed in my house. However, just doing it at my house will be a little boring. I want to start my CCR in a tennis court to show my personality, as I like playing tennis, and then I would incorporate a small transition of me at my house. At my house I will start answering the questions that the camera man is asking me. The teacher provided some "DO NOTS" and one of them was a stable shot of the person talking. With that in mind I would be walking around my house to show confidence by responding the questions.

Moreover, for my second CCR, the order in which I will be answering the questions is first 4 and last 3, because I think that 3 is more of an overall reflection of what I did and learned, and how my process evolved throughout the 8 weeks of writing, planning, filming, editing, and much more. With that being said, my idea for my last CCR is a creative presentation with a voice over. When I shared my idea to the teacher, she recommended to make the presentation creative, so that the audience doesn't loose interest in the concept of the reflection. The CCR will start with me welcoming the people, and then I will show in the big screen the presentation, and I'm going to be in the top corner of the presentation explaining the context of the questions. Also I will include different shots of the process, and filming production (behind-the scenes) to make logic to what I'm saying.

I hope everything goes as plan with the filming of my reflection videos, my idea is to have everything ready and done for the beginning of next week, so that next week the only thing I have to do is, a last check of the film, upload it in my blog, write my last 4 blogs :(, and say a big goodbye to this awesome journey.

Question #3

Research for question #3

Now that I have completed the research for questions 1 and 2 , I have already completed my scripts, the links are in the previous blogs. I am half done with my CCR videos. This last questions I will pair 3 and 4, and I will do it in another type of video. Lets take a glance on what the third question is asking.

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

When the teacher was explaining the directions for creating the CCRs, she recommended to answer this question last, as it is a question that reflects the overall process and development of this project, which I think is smart. As I look back at the first week I think I was pushing myself too hard, because I didn't know were to edit, record and who to choose to interpret my characters, which affected my way of thinking. However, during the filming days with my friends, I was able to come up with more ideas on how the camera and the movement of the characters was going to be like. Also something that helped was the research and planning at the beginning of the project. By researching the conventions, target audience, credit sequence, and much more, these elements were crucial as it was a guide in the development of my film opening.

Of course, I had challenges in the making of this film, for instance, as I said in previous blogs. I was dependent on my friends schedule, so whenever they could come to my house I was able to film. There were days when they couldn't, so the planning in time was poor. Also, as I was editing on my iPad, and uploading the music to the shots, in ClipChamp, for some reason it didn't work, and I tried everything, I researched, restarted my device, logged in another device, but nothing really worked. So I had two options, give up or try another platform. Obviously I'm not giving up, so I started to use iMovie, and it was easier than I thought.

At the start of the creation, I didn't have hope on how is was going to turn out, because I didn't have anything planned out. At that time my friends weren't available, I was unclear over the type of genre, and I was overwhelmed on how much work I had to put for this project. However, I ended with more hope, I know this isn't Hollywood, but I'm proud on how everything turned out. I had an amazing time filming this with my friends, as well as I know they also had fun being a part of this. I learned how to edit, write, be creative, and more important manage my time wisely.

Question #4

Research for question 4

Now that I have completed the research for the rest of the questions. The last one is number 4. I'm planning on filming all my CCRs this week, so I can edit everything in the beginning of the week, so when it's time for spring break I won't be worrying on editing, writing, or filming. So with that being said this is the 4 question.

How do you integrate technologies-software, hardware, and online- in this project?

Throughout my project developing I had to plan whether what types of technologies I had to use, such as the lighting, camera, software, and much more. In my project I used my phone camera to film all the scenes. Something that I feel proud of is, when I showed my project to my friends, they were amazed on the quality of my phone. Also I incorporate  different lighting throughout the movie, to show the contrast of love and tragedy.

Moreover, the software that helped me achieve the final result, was iMovie, the app have a variety of features that allows to make a video look more professional. Although I had to learn how to incorporate in the film, I was proud of the final product. Also, for my logo, the app was Canva , I played around with different fonts, colors, sizes, etc, to see which one was the one that I truly liked.

This apps helped me to develop my project. For instance, using Canva, I was able to create a logo for my production company, instead of me drawing it. Also in iMovie, the lighting was a successful tool in the overall film, just because it highlights the contrast of how the couple's relation is changing over time.

Something that I learned within creating my project is how to use an app I haven't used before. For example, watching Youtube tutorials on how to incorporate an audio file while editing the video on an iPad, helped me learn how to download the music fast and efficient. So overall, I think that technology played a big role in the development of the film as it adds important elements to it.

Question #2

Research question #2

Welcome to week 7, last week, I am proud to announce that it was a wrap in everything involved in the film opening, for instance, the editing and the credit sequence. This advantage of finishing the editing, allows me to be 100% focused with my CCR's for the remaining weeks. As I said in my last blog, I will be answering 2 questions in different CCR videos. This blog will be researching for question 2 that is.

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

I think this might be one of the easiest questions to answer in the CCR. One of my main resources to answer these questions is everything I have written on my blogs. For this question I want the video to be engaging for the audience, so I will insert shots and scenes of my film in the video, this makes the video visually entertaining, instead of only one stable shot of me talking until the end of the video. Moreover, the question asks how my product will engage with the audience.Since the beginning of the project I had in mind the target audience for romance movies. By having in mind the audience, which are mostly females, between ages 13- to late 40s, my film includes contents that this specific audience tends to relate and connect with emotionally, like the music, lighting, and body language.

The second part of this question, is the type of distribution my product will have. Typically films are released in theaters, but in this case, I wouldn't say that. Instead, other options that can be close to theaters and the public can have easy access, is social media platforms. In my case Youtube or website for amateur movies can allow the real world to view my film opening.

Now I have to write my script for this questions! Here is the link! (CCR scripts)

Here it is!!

Finally!! It's finally done!! These are all the links for my film opening and CCR videos! I hope you guys enjoy my project as much as ...
